Austin, Texas, March 13-18

Norway @ SXSW

by Webmaster, 06.02.2012

Several Norwegian bands and artists are performing at SXSW 2012. Here is the schedule for the showcases.

The large industry festival South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas has for several years been a popular showcase arena for Norwegian music. This year, a total of 8 Norwegian bands have been confirmed for the festival, which opens on March 13th.

As always, a wide range of artists will perform, from accomplished acts such as Marit Larsen and Audrey Horne to new talent such as Deathcrush and Philco Fiction. Marit Larsen has actually been chosen as one of the few artsits to be a part of the SXSW Alphabet (Read 26 Bands We Can't Wait To See At SXSW here).

Two of the bands, Shining and Audrey Horne from Indie Recordings, will perform as part of a Metal Hammer UK showcase, which is supported by Music Export Norway.

- SXSW is the most important music event for us and the industry in the US for 2012. Not only do we present two of our main priorities at this event to the US industry, we also expose them to non-industry people for the first time. This guarantees a lot of interest and press. Our US office has been working hard on the promotion in their home market for weeks and the interest is very promising, says Simon Füllemann, Head of Marketing & Distribution at Indie Recordings.

- By being part of the Metal Hammer UK showcase we also have a bright exposure of our bands in the UK and Europe. MH UK owns the largest magazine in the UK with lots of readers all over Europe, and they also have the biggest online Metal community at this point in time, says Füllemann.
