MEN + Øya in Berlin

by Webmaster, 28.03.2011

Music Export Norway and Øya presents an evening with three Norwegian bands in one of Berlin's hottest clubs.

Øya and Music Export Norway have previously held a number of events with Norwegian artists in London, New York and Austin. Now we are bringing Norwegian artists to Berlin for the first time together. In addition to concerts with the up-and-coming Norwegian bands Razika, Kakkmaddafakka and Pow Pow, Karrera Klub and Trashpop will present DJ sets. The fun takes place at the Magnet Club in Berlin. Intro and Melt! booking are partners in the event.

Among the artists who have been playing for a large foreign audience during our pervious events are Datarock, Casiokids, Ida Maria, Shining, Hanne Hukkelberg, Team Me and Lucy Swann.

About the bands:

Kakkmaddafakka from Bergen is enthusiastic about everything from hip hop and funk to rock and indie. This shines through in their music. The band has proven countless times that they belong on the stage. They recently released their second album, called Hest.

One of this year's hottest debut album names is Razika. They create skapop with lyrics in Norwegian and English. Rough Trade describes Razika as follows: "It's a sound that speaks of pre-internet basement parties, raiding charity shop bins for threads to impress someone no good for you and living each day like It's the last one of summer".

Pow Pow
Instrumental band Pow Pow really convinced with the release of the album Last Days On Earth in 2010. The band is inspired by equal parts electronica, post-rock and kraut. The result is organic, exciting and modern. http://www.myspace.com/powpow2
