Inferno Metal Festival, Oslo

Infernal Easter

by Webmaster, 18.04.2012

The 12th edition of the Inferno Festival is over.

Every Easter, metal lovers from around the world gather in Oslo to attend the Inferno festival. Inferno has become a popular event amongst both a foreign audience and industry professionals.

The event is more than just a festival. IMC, which is the conference part of Inferno, is growing year by year, and more than 70 national and international delegates participated in seminars, speed meetings, beer tasting, black metal bus sightseeing and more.

Music Export Norway has for several years been a partner of the conference, which also includes a networking party before the traditional Indie Recordings label night.

Invaluable

Gunnar Sauermann of Metal Hammer has visited the festival for many years. He was impressed with the 2012 edition.

- The 12th edition of the Inferno Festival was the best in recent years in my opinion. Quite obviously the 2012 gathering in Oslo witnessed a return to the original concept of focusing on Norwegian bands, as well as promoting the underground to give new and interesting acts a chance to present themselves to native and international visitors alike. The Inferno festival 2012 proved to be an invaluable asset of one of Norway’s most successful musical export: the metal scene, he says.

Fred Pessaro of BrooklynVegan visited Inferno for the first time. Here is his impression:

- In an era of generic, cookie-cutter festivals with the same bands in different cities, Inferno Festival has the courage to not only showcase different and exciting bands but also some of the most promising young ones.  More importantly, any truly good festival is more than just a series of bands on different stages, its a community.  I was happy to be part of the Inferno community this year.

Check out some images from the event above, and make sure to drop by Inferno's Facebook page for more great pictures.
