16 Norwegian bands and artists will play at the world's largest industry festival, South By Southwest in Austin, Texas.

The large industry festival South By Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas has for several years been a popular showcase arena for Norwegian music. This year, a total of 16 Norwegian bands have accepted an official invitation to play showcases during the festival, which opens on March 16th.

A wide range of artists will perform this year, from well established acts such as Marit Larsen, Datarock and Sondre Lerche to fresh talent such as Kvelertak and Tôg.

- South By Southwest is an important showcase arena, and I am very pleased that so many Norwegian artists are invited every year. This shows that Norwegian music has a good reputation internationally, says Managing Director of Music Export Norway, Inger Dirdal.

It is, however, very important to focus on marketing and international networking well ahead of the festival to get noticed.

- With around 2000 artists participating at the event, it goes without saying that it is difficult to attract attention from the international music industry and press, Dirdal says.

The following acts have been invited so far:

Altaar
Casiokids
Datarock
Harry`s Gym
DE Håker Flaten
Kvelertak
Marit Larsen
The Megaphonic Thrift
Mylittlepony
Serpentine
Simon Says No!
Silje Nes
Sondre Lerche
Tôg
Youth Pictures Of Florence Henderson
Årabrot

Stay tuned for the full schedule with venues and timetable.
